IOTA 2866 is a high-reactivity silicone prepolymer characterized by a single-end dihydroxy structure, specifically engineered to enhance the performance of various resin systems. With an average molecular weight of 4250 and a hydroxyl content of 0.8%, this product exhibits excellent reactivity with -NCO and -COOH groups, boasting compatibility similar to that of polyols, which enables seamless copolymerization with relevant components.
In terms of technical specifications, IOTA 2866 presents a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid appearance, with a viscosity range of 800-1800 cst at 25°C and a solid content of 96.00±3.00%. These parameters ensure stable dispersion and integration in different formulations, laying a solid foundation for reliable application effects.
Its key performance advantages are comprehensive and prominent: it significantly improves the high wear resistance of resins or coatings, extends product service life, and endows materials with superior hand feel and slipperiness. Additionally, it possesses excellent anti-adhesion, anti-stain, and anti-graffiti properties, effectively solving cleaning problems during product use. The low surface tension of IOTA 2866 also promotes leveling and flow, optimizing the final appearance of finished products with a more uniform and delicate texture.
IOTA 2866 finds wide-ranging applications in synthesizing silicon-modified polyurethane (PU) resins and emulsions, modifying polyesters, polyurethanes, and urethane acrylates, as well as formulating two-component PU baking varnishes and amino baking varnishes. For practical usage, it can react with isocyanates to form -NCO-terminated prepolymers followed by chain extension with polyols, or be added simultaneously with polyols for copolymerization. The recommended copolymerization temperature is 85°C when paired with MDI and TDI, and around 90°C for IPDI. In two-component systems, it can be directly incorporated into the main resin and dispersed uniformly to achieve the desired modification effects.
