2.1 Application in the spinning process
In the spinning process, silicone wax is mainly used as a spinning lubricant. Compared with traditional mineral oil-based lubricants, silicone wax has the following advantages:


The lubrication effect is more lasting and can reduce the yarn breakage rate


Does not affect subsequent dyeing processing


Almost no volatiles are produced, improving the workshop working environment


Easy to biodegrade, reducing the burden of wastewater treatment


Studies have shown that adding 0.3%-0.8% silicone wax emulsion can significantly reduce the friction coefficient of natural fibers such as cotton yarn and wool yarn, and improve yarn strength and spinning efficiency.


2.2 Application in the weaving process
Silicone wax plays the following main roles in the weaving stage:


Warp sizing auxiliary agent: used in combination with traditional sizing materials, it can improve the flexibility of the sizing film and reduce the breakage of warp yarns during weaving


Loom lubricant: used for lubrication of key components of high-speed looms such as rapier and jet looms, with excellent high temperature resistance


Antistatic agent: especially suitable for synthetic fiber weaving, which can effectively eliminate static electricity accumulation


2.3 Application in textile finishing
This is the most widely used field of silicone wax, mainly including:


Soft finishing:
Silicone wax can significantly improve the soft feel of various textiles. Its mechanism of action is:


Forming a uniform molecular film on the fiber surface to reduce friction between fibers


The free rotation of siloxane chain segments makes the fabric softer


Amino and other functional groups form a directional arrangement with the fiber


Comparative tests show that the bending stiffness of cotton fabrics finished with amino silicone wax can be reduced by 40%-60%, and they still maintain a good feel after multiple washings.


Abrasion-resistant enhancement finishing:
Silicone wax can form a protective film on the fiber surface to reduce friction damage. For example:


After adding silicone wax to socks, the wear resistance increases by 2-3 times


After bedding is finished with silicone wax, the pilling level is significantly improved


Special functional finishing:


Waterproof finishing: When used in combination with fluorine-based waterproofing agents, it can achieve excellent waterproofing effects


Hydrophilic finishing: Polyether-modified silicone wax gives synthetic fibers moisture absorption and perspiration


Antibacterial finishing: Silicone wax with antibacterial agents achieves long-lasting antibacterial function
