I. Basic characteristics and classification of silicone wax
Silicone wax is a type of waxy substance made from organic silicon compounds by a special process. Its molecular structure contains both organic groups and inorganic silicon oxygen bonds (Si-O). This unique structure gives it excellent properties different from traditional wax agents. According to different chemical compositions and application characteristics, textile silicone wax can be mainly divided into the following categories:
Methyl silicone wax: the most basic type of silicone wax, with excellent hydrophobicity and thermal stability, relatively low price, widely used in the finishing of conventional textiles.
Amino silicone wax: The molecule contains amino functional groups, which can form a stronger bond with the fiber and provide a lasting soft effect. It is the first choice for high-end textile finishing.
Polyether modified silicone wax: The hydrophilicity is improved by introducing polyether segments, which is suitable for sportswear that needs to have both softness and moisture absorption and perspiration functions.
Special functional silicone wax: including fluorinated silicone wax (enhanced antifouling properties), aromatic silicone wax (providing lasting fragrance), etc., used to develop high value-added textiles.
From the physical form, silicone wax products can be divided into solid blocks, flakes, granules, and liquid forms such as emulsions or microemulsions. Different forms are adapted to various processing requirements in textile production.
