Consider the fabric material

Natural fiber fabrics
Cotton fabrics: Cotton fibers have more hydroxyl groups on their surface, which are easy to absorb finishing agents. Generally, weak cationic silicone emulsions can be selected, which can be firmly adsorbed on cotton fibers through electrostatic action, providing good softness and smoothness. For cotton fabrics that require waterproof functions, non-ionic silicone emulsions containing fluorine or long-chain alkyl groups can also be selected, which have better waterproof properties.
Wool fabrics: Wool fibers have a protein structure and require higher softness and wrinkle resistance. Amino-modified weak cationic silicone emulsions can be selected, which can give wool fabrics a soft, smooth, and plump feel, while improving their wrinkle resistance and wear resistance.
Silk fabrics: Silk has a soft and smooth texture, and has extremely high requirements for gloss and feel. Non-ionic or weakly cationic silicone microemulsions are usually selected, which can form a uniform film on the surface of silk, enhance the gloss and softness of silk, and will not affect the breathability of silk.
Chemical fiber fabric
Polyester fiber fabric: The surface of polyester fiber is relatively smooth and has low polarity. Reactive silicone emulsion can be selected, which can react chemically with the ester group on the surface of polyester fiber to improve the durability of the finishing effect and make it soft, smooth and antistatic.
Nylon fabric: Nylon fiber has certain polarity and hygroscopicity. Amino or epoxy modified silicone emulsion can be selected, which can react with amino groups in nylon fiber to improve the softness, wear resistance and wrinkle resistance of the fabric.

Clear finishing goals

Soft and smooth: If the main goal is to make the fabric soft and smooth, weak cationic silicone emulsion is usually a better choice, especially amino modified silicone emulsion, which can significantly improve the softness and smoothness of the fabric.
Waterproof and water repellent: For fabrics that need waterproof function, non-ionic silicone emulsions containing hydrophobic groups such as fluorosilane or long-chain alkyl should be selected. They can form a tight hydrophobic layer on the surface of the fabric and effectively prevent water penetration.
Antistatic: In order to reduce the accumulation of static electricity on the surface of the fabric, non-ionic or weakly cationic silicone emulsions containing hydrophilic groups such as polyether can be used to improve the surface conductivity of the fabric and dissipate static electricity in time.
Antibacterial and deodorizing: If you want the fabric to have antibacterial and deodorizing functions, you can choose silicone emulsions with antibacterial agents added, or silicone quaternary ammonium salt emulsions with antibacterial properties.

Consider processing technology

Padding process: It is suitable for various types of silicone emulsions, but for high-viscosity emulsions, appropriate dilution may be required to ensure that the emulsion can penetrate evenly into the fabric.
Impregnation process: Generally, silicone emulsions are required to have good water solubility and stability. Both non-ionic and weakly cationic silicone emulsions are more suitable. The appropriate type and formula can be selected according to the specific requirements of the fabric.
Coating process: The silicone emulsion needs to have high film-forming and adhesion properties. Reactive silicone emulsions or silicone emulsions with special functional groups can be selected to form a firm coating on the fabric surface and improve the performance of the fabric.

Other factors

Cost factors: The prices of different types and brands of silicone emulsions vary greatly, and comprehensive considerations need to be made based on the production budget when choosing. On the premise of meeting the needs of fabric finishing, try to choose products with high cost performance.
Environmental protection requirements: With the improvement of environmental awareness, more and more customers have put forward requirements for the environmental performance of fabric finishing agents. Silicone emulsions that meet environmental protection standards should be selected, such as products that do not contain formaldehyde, APEO and other harmful substances.
Supplier reputation and technical support: Choose suppliers with good reputation and professional technical support, who can provide products with stable quality and provide timely technical guidance and solutions during use.
