IOTA 616 is a hydrogen-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with reactive Si–H groups at both ends of the molecular chain. It is a colorless, transparent liquid with a flexible siloxane backbone and well-defined terminal functionality, making it a key reactive material in silicone chemistry.

Structurally, IOTA 616 is a linear silicone polymer. Its molecular weight and viscosity can be adjusted over a wide range, allowing it to meet different formulation requirements. The combination of a flexible backbone and reactive end groups enables it to participate in chain extension and crosslinking reactions while remaining part of the final material structure.

Compared with low molecular weight hydrogen siloxanes, IOTA 616 offers better structural stability and compatibility in silicone systems. After reaction, it becomes an integral part of the polymer network, contributing directly to the mechanical properties and overall performance of the material.

IOTA 616 is widely used in addition-cure silicone systems such as liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and high-temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone rubber. It can function as a chain extender or crosslinking component, helping to build uniform network structures and improve strength, flexibility, and durability.

In addition, IOTA 616 can be used in silicone modification processes and as a starting material for organic polymer modification. By introducing siloxane segments into other materials, it enhances flexibility, weather resistance, and hydrophobic properties.

For storage and handling, the product should be kept in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment, away from acids, alkalis, and heat sources to ensure stability.
