Durable Film Formation for Skin and Hair Care

INCI Name: Cyclopentasiloxane (and) Cyclotetrasiloxane (and) Dimethiconol

IOTA 1401 is a functional silicone blend consisting of ultra-high viscosity dimethiconol dissolved in a mixture of cyclotetrasiloxane and cyclopentasiloxane. The formulation is carefully balanced to maintain pourability while delivering strong film-forming and substantivity properties.

Through physical interaction, the high level of dimethiconol enhances the retention of active ingredients on skin and hair surfaces, even under water immersion or cleansing conditions. This enables the formation of a flexible, water-repellent, and long-lasting protective film.

Formulation Guidance

Emulsions:
May be incorporated directly into the oil phase. If oil phase temperatures exceed 60°C, add slowly after emulsification below 50°C using high shear mixing.

Non-emulsion systems:
It is recommended to add cosmetic ingredients into the silicone phase to ensure proper dispersion of the ultra-high molecular weight dimethiconol.
