IOTA 9283 is a liquid polysilazane featuring Si-N backbone structures with methyl and modified fluorine functional groups. It is designed for room-temperature cured hydrophobic coating systems, offering exceptional performance and versatility. The unique Si-NH-Si bonds enable curing at ambient temperature through hydrolysis and oxidation reactions, while also promoting strong adhesion to various substrates by interacting with surface hydroxyl groups.
This product exhibits outstanding hydrophobic properties, with a stable contact angle of 115°, and maintains high optical transparency, achieving over 95% transmittance in the visible spectrum. Its low viscosity allows easy application via spraying, brushing, dipping, or smearing on substrates including metals, glass, ceramics, plastics, and painted surfaces.
IOTA 9283 can be cured either at room temperature (24 hours for full cure) or with thermal assistance (2–5 hours at 120–150°C after surface drying), significantly reducing processing time. The cured coating achieves a pencil hardness of 6H, demonstrates excellent chemical resistance, and offers anti-corrosion and anti-oxidation properties. It also possesses good thermal stability, with recommended service temperatures up to 1000°C for main coatings.
Widely used in coatings, adhesives, flame-retardant composites, and polymer matrices, IOTA 9283 is compatible with many non-polar solvents and resins. Proper handling under dry conditions and storage in a cool environment are advised to ensure optimal performance.
