(I) Molecular structure and reactivity
Bis-terminal hydroxypropyl silicone oil is a linear organofunctional polysiloxane with terminal primary hydroxyl groups in its molecular structure. This structural feature gives it unique reactivity and can be used as an active component in a suitable polymer to participate in the synthesis of silicone-polyurethane/polyester block polymers. This reactivity lays a solid foundation for its application in coating materials, and can be well combined with other polymer materials to give coating materials more excellent properties.


(II) Physical property advantages
Appearance and purity: It is a colorless or yellow transparent oily liquid with an active ingredient ≥90%. The high purity ensures its stability and effectiveness during application.
Low-temperature flexibility: It can significantly improve the low-temperature flexibility of the polymer, making the coating less likely to crack in a low-temperature environment and maintaining good physical properties, which is particularly important for coating materials used in cold areas.
Processing fluidity: It gives the polymer good processing fluidity, which facilitates the coating and uniform distribution during construction, and improves production efficiency and coating quality.
Isolation and anti-sticking properties: Due to the automatic surface effect of silicone, the polymer has good isolation and anti-sticking properties. This property is crucial in anti-graffiti coatings, which can effectively prevent the adhesion of pigments, markers and other substances on the surface of the coating, and also facilitate subsequent cleaning and maintenance.
High temperature resistance and wear resistance: With high temperature resistance and wear resistance, it can be used for a long time in harsh environments such as high temperature and high friction, extending the service life of the coating.


III. Application in anti-graffiti coatings
(I) Marker resistance and anti-graffiti effect
Bis-terminal hydroxypropyl silicone oil is a key modified polydimethylsiloxane for making solvent-based anti-graffiti coatings. Its unique molecular structure and anti-stickiness enable the coating to effectively resist the erosion of graffiti substances such as markers and paints. When graffiti substances come into contact with the surface of the coating, due to the isolation and anti-stickiness of the coating, they are difficult to penetrate and adhere to the substrate. They can be removed with a simple cleaning method to keep the surface clean.


(II) Realization of strippable effect
In addition to the anti-graffiti function, the silicone oil also gives the coating an additional strippable effect. In some scenarios that require temporary protection or special decoration, strippable coatings have great advantages. For example, in the process of building decoration, temporary protection is provided for doors, windows, glass, etc. After the construction is completed, the coating can be easily peeled off without leaving any residue; in the advertising industry, peelable advertising stickers can be made for easy replacement and updating.


(III) Compatibility with diluents
Although the compatibility with aromatic hydrocarbons is limited, it can be well mixed with ester, ketone and alcohol diluents. This allows greater flexibility in the design of coating formulations, and the appropriate diluent can be selected according to different application requirements to adjust the viscosity and construction performance of the coating.


(IV) Application field expansion
Building exterior walls: Building exterior walls are often troubled by graffiti. The use of anti-graffiti coatings containing double-terminal hydroxypropyl silicone oil can effectively protect the wall surface, reduce cleaning costs and maintenance workload, and improve the overall aesthetics of the building.
Car surface: The car body is easily maliciously graffitied. The coating can be applied to the car topcoat, which not only plays an anti-graffiti role, but also improves the gloss and wear resistance of the car body and protects the car paint surface.
Electronic device housing: Electronic device housings are exposed to the external environment for a long time and are easily stained and graffitied. The application of coatings can keep the housings clean without affecting the appearance and performance of the equipment.


IV. Application in peelable coatings


(I) The core role as a release agent and mold release agent


Bis-terminal hydroxypropyl silicone oil can be used as a release agent and mold release agent, playing a key role in peelable coatings. During the coating curing process, it can form a layer of isolation film between the coating and the substrate, so that the coating can be easily peeled off after curing without damaging the surface of the substrate. This feature has important applications in mold manufacturing, composite material processing and other fields.


(II) Addition amount and performance regulation


In the application, adding a small amount (3-30%, the addition amount is determined according to the required performance) can replace the polyol in the original formula. By adjusting the addition amount, the peelability, flexibility, temperature resistance and other properties of the coating can be precisely controlled. For example, in scenarios where strong peeling force is required, the addition amount can be appropriately increased; while in cases where flexibility is required, the addition amount can be reduced to achieve the best use effect.


(III) Application in silicone rubber, polyurethane and other materials


Silicone rubber products: In the production process of silicone rubber, it is used as a release agent to enable rubber products to be smoothly removed from the mold, improve production efficiency, and ensure the surface quality of the products.


Polyurethane materials: In polyurethane coatings and foam materials, adding double-terminal hydroxypropyl silicone oil can improve the processing fluidity and release performance of the material, so that polyurethane products have better performance and appearance.
