Release silicone oil: a key additive in industrial production

Hits: 607 img

In the huge system of modern industrial production, mold release silicone oil, as an extremely important auxiliary agent, is quietly playing an irreplaceable role. From plastic products to rubber products, from metal casting to fiber production, mold release silicone oil, with its unique properties, provides efficient and reliable solutions for various complex production processes.

The main component of mold release silicone oil is polysiloxane, and this special chemical structure gives it many excellent properties. First of all, it has extremely low surface tension and can easily form a uniform and smooth isolation film between the mold and the molded product. This isolation film is like a loyal "guard", which effectively prevents the adhesion of the product to the mold and ensures the smooth progress of the demoulding process. At the same time, silicone oil has excellent thermal stability. Whether it is injection molding under high temperature or rubber vulcanization under low temperature conditions, it can maintain stable performance and will not lose its due efficacy due to temperature changes. In addition, mold release silicone oil also has good chemical inertness, and will not cause corrosion or other chemical reactions to molds and product materials, ensuring the quality of the product and the service life of the mold.

In the rubber and plastic products industry, mold release silicone oil is widely used. Taking the production of rubber tires as an example, during the tire vulcanization process, the mold temperature is as high as 150℃ or even higher. Mold release silicone oil can form a strong isolation layer on the mold surface at such a high temperature, so that the vulcanized tire can be easily demolded, and the tire surface is smooth without any adhesion marks. For plastic products, such as plastic shells, plastic toys, etc., mold release silicone oil can not only improve the demolding efficiency, but also make the product surface smoother, reducing the workload of subsequent grinding, polishing and other processes. In the production of some high-precision plastic parts, the precise use of mold release silicone oil is a key factor in ensuring the dimensional accuracy of parts.

The field of metal casting is also inseparable from mold release silicone oil. During the casting process, the temperature of liquid metal is usually above several hundred degrees Celsius, and the high temperature resistance of the mold release agent is extremely high. Mold release silicone oil can withstand such high temperatures and form a tough protective film on the mold surface to prevent liquid metal from sticking to the mold. At the same time, it can also improve the surface quality of the casting and reduce the occurrence of defects such as sand holes and pores. For example, in aluminum alloy casting, after using mold release silicone oil, the surface roughness of the casting is significantly reduced, subsequent processing is easier, and the qualified rate of the product is greatly improved.
In the fiber production process, mold release silicone oil also plays an important role. During the spinning process, the friction between the fiber and the spinneret is large, which easily leads to fiber breakage. As an important component of spinning oil, mold release silicone oil can reduce the friction coefficient between the fiber and the spinneret, so that the fiber can be sprayed smoothly and reduce the occurrence of broken wires. At the same time, it can also give the fiber good softness and smoothness, and improve the quality of the fiber.

There are many ways to use mold release silicone oil, and the common ones are spraying, brushing and dipping. The spraying method is suitable for large areas of mold surface, and can quickly and evenly cover the mold with mold release silicone oil; the brushing method is suitable for some mold parts with complex shapes and difficult to spray; the dipping method is generally used in the production of small molds or products with extremely high demolding requirements. During use, it is necessary to reasonably adjust the concentration and dosage of mold release silicone oil according to different production processes and mold materials. For example, for molds with large surface roughness, it may be necessary to appropriately increase the concentration and number of spraying of mold release silicone oil to ensure the demolding effect.

With the continuous enhancement of environmental awareness, the development of mold release silicone oil has also shown a green and environmentally friendly trend. Traditional mold release silicone oil may contain some volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are harmful to the environment and human health. Nowadays, more and more companies are beginning to develop and use environmentally friendly mold release silicone oils. These products use water-based formulas, reduce the use of organic solvents, reduce VOCs emissions, and have good demolding performance and stability. In addition, some new mold release silicone oils also have self-healing functions, which can form a self-healing isolation film on the mold surface, further improving the service life and demolding effect of the mold.

Mold release silicone oil plays a vital role in industrial production. With its unique properties, it provides a strong guarantee for efficient and high-quality production in many industries. With the continuous advancement of science and technology, the performance of mold release silicone oil will continue to be optimized, and the application field will be further expanded, contributing more to the sustainable development of industrial production. In the future industrial development blueprint, mold release silicone oil will continue to shine with its unique brilliance and become an important force in promoting the progress of various industries.
