The technological code behind smoothness - polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)

Characteristics Analysis
As the most widely used silicone in the cosmetics industry, PDMS has unique "liquid silk" properties. Its molecular weight is adjustable between 6,000-100,000 Daltons. Low molecular weight products show water-like fluidity, while high molecular weight products show a paste-like texture. This linear structure gives it low-temperature stability at -50°C without solidifying, and its performance remains unchanged at high temperatures of 120°C.

Application scenarios
In skin care products, PDMS can reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) without hindering skin breathing by forming a breathable membrane layer of 0.1-5μm. In the field of color cosmetics, its surface tension (about 21mN/m) enables it to spread evenly and fix the pigment particles in the best refractive position. A certain international brand foundation liquid uses 3 different viscosity PDMS compounds to create a special texture of "melting after makeup".

Technological breakthrough
The newly developed amino-modified PDMS introduces -NH2 groups, which enables silicone oil to adhere more firmly to the negatively charged skin surface. Experimental data shows that the residence time of the modified product is extended by 2.3 times, which is particularly suitable for night repair products that require long-lasting moisturizing.
