In the complex structure of the car, the sealing link is crucial, which is directly related to the performance, safety and durability of the car. Silicone oil, with its unique physical and chemical properties, has become a key material in the field of automotive sealing, playing an indispensable role in many key parts.
Engine compartment sealing
Sealing gaskets and O-rings: In the engine compartment of the car, high temperature, oil pollution and strong vibration are the norm. In order to cope with such harsh environments, engineers use silicone oil to make high-performance sealing gaskets and O-rings. During the production process, silicone oil is mixed with specific polymer materials, and the silicone oil is evenly distributed inside the material through precise formulas and advanced processing technology. The sealing gaskets and O-rings made in this way not only have the high heat resistance and chemical stability of silicone oil, but also have the good elasticity and mechanical strength of polymer materials.
Working principle: When installed at various interfaces of the engine, such as the connection between the cylinder head and the cylinder block, the oil pan seal, etc., in the high temperature environment generated by the engine, the high heat resistance of silicone oil ensures that the material will not soften and deform due to excessive temperature, and always maintain a good sealing shape. At the same time, its excellent chemical stability can resist the erosion of various chemicals such as engine oil and coolant, and will not swell or become brittle. During the vibration of the engine, the sealing gasket and O-ring can fit the surface of the connecting parts tightly with their own elasticity, fill the tiny gaps, and effectively prevent the leakage of engine oil, coolant, etc., providing a solid guarantee for the stable operation of the engine.
Door and window sealing
Sealing strips: The sealing of doors and windows is crucial to improving the comfort of the car. It not only ensures the sound insulation effect, but also resists the invasion of wind and rain. Silicone oil-based sealing strips are born for this purpose. During production, silicone oil is integrated into the rubber raw material, and a special extrusion process is used to form a sealing strip with a specific shape and size.
Performance advantages: This sealing strip has excellent UV resistance and weather resistance. When the car is exposed to the outdoors for a long time, ultraviolet rays and climate change will cause serious aging effects on ordinary rubber sealing strips. The addition of silicone oil enables the sealing strip to effectively resist ultraviolet radiation, slow down the aging of rubber, and extend its service life. At the same time, the low surface tension of silicone oil makes the surface of the rubber strip less likely to be contaminated with dust and dirt, keeping it clean while also helping to maintain good sealing performance. When the door is closed, the sealing strip can fit tightly to the door frame, effectively blocking external noise, rain and dust from entering the car, creating a quiet and comfortable space for the driver and passengers.
