In the application process of silicone softener, many factors will lead to various problems and affect the fabric finishing effect.
PH value influence: In the dyeing and finishing process, cotton fabric pretreatment, mercerization and some dyeing processes will leave alkali on the fabric surface, while ordinary silicone oil is not alkali-resistant and is easy to demulsify under alkaline conditions. During the dip-rolling softening process, it will stick to the roller and produce silicone oil spots. The solution is to wash the alkali agent on the fabric surface before softening, add acetic acid to the working liquid, and maintain the pH value of the rolling groove at 5-6.
The speed of the setting machine: When the dyeing factory setting machine produces ultra-thin fabrics such as chiffon and imitation silk, the speed is fast, the thin fabric has less liquid and poor permeability, and the silicone oil has poor hydrophilicity and shear resistance, which causes the silicone oil to flow back to the roller and stick to the roller. This can be solved by controlling the speed, improving the permeability of the fabric, timely replacing the working liquid of the rolling groove and cleaning the roller, and improving the shear resistance of the silicone oil.
The problem of applying softener in the cylinder: In order to achieve a specific hand feel style, the factory often performs dip softening in the cylinder. However, due to its structure and the residue in the dye vat, ordinary silicone oil will form a black viscous substance on the wall of the vat, which will form silicone oil spots on the fabric. The solution includes strengthening cleaning work, selecting silicone oil in the vat with good stability, washing the fabric before passing the silicone oil in the vat and avoiding alkali, and adding acid to adjust the pH value to about 6.
Silicone oil coagulation phenomenon: When processing fabrics containing short fibers, the short fibers fall and are adhered to the silicone oil to form cohesive aggregates. When the water quality is poor, ordinary silicone oil will also coagulate, causing sticking to the roller or silicone oil spots. Cleaning before driving, washing the fabric surface and wool, and selecting silicone oil with good hydrophilicity can alleviate this problem.
