Fluorosilicone rubber is a polymer with a main chain formed by silicon-oxygen bonds and trifluoroalkyl groups on the side chains. Ethyl silicone rubber is a rubber with a main chain composed of silicon-oxygen bonds and ethyl groups on the side chains.
Fluorosilicone rubber has the following advantages over ethyl silicone rubber:
Oil resistance:
Fluorosilicone rubber has good resistance to oils, while ethyl silicone rubber has relatively poor oil resistance.
Solvent resistance:
Fluorosilicone rubber has good resistance to chemicals such as organic solvents, inorganic acids, and oxidants, while ethyl silicone rubber has relatively poor solvent resistance.
Chemical resistance:
Fluorosilicone rubber has good resistance to a variety of chemicals, while ethyl silicone rubber has relatively poor chemical resistance.
Heat resistance:
Fluorosilicone rubber can maintain its elasticity and physical properties at extremely high temperatures and can withstand temperatures up to about 250°C, while ethyl silicone rubber has relatively poor heat resistance.
Cold resistance:
Fluorosilicone rubber has good low temperature performance like ordinary silicone rubber, and its low temperature characteristics are better than ethyl silicone rubber with C-C as the main chain.
Electrical properties:
The electrical properties of fluorosilicone rubber are similar to those of ordinary silicone rubber, and change little under harsh conditions such as high temperature, low temperature, humidity, oil, solvents, chemicals, ozone, etc.
Radiation resistance:
The radiation resistance of fluorosilicone rubber is not outstanding, but its radiation aging resistance is better than that of ethyl silicone rubber.
